The Challenge
The Transgender District wanted to let the communities in the District know the organization’s doings, as well as inform them about events and resources. To do this, they launched a monthly Mailchimp newsletter in 2018, after their founding in 2017. In 2020, after the organization’s name change from Compton’s Transgender Cultural District to the Transgender District, they contacted me for a redesign.
The Solution
One person would put each newsletter together using the Mailchimp interface, but many contributors would be giving them content, so the text and image format needed to be easily regularized. I worked with Executive Director Aria Sa’id to create a clean, easy-to-follow template for staff to update. We pulled the blue from the Transgender District logo for links and rules, and a neutral sans serif typeface for the text.
