I put these posters up in series on walls in San Francisco, CA. Most of them got taken down pretty quickly, but some stayed up for a while!
I created this series years ago to alert viewers to what I and many others were seeing as the TV networks’ simply regurgitating US government talking points rather than providing more investigative and nuanced reporting, and to encourage viewers to think critically and do their own research.
I used screengrabs of then-popular newscasters superimposed with the “I Am Lying To You” headline to attach guilt and responsibility directly to the most common TV news faces; I wanted viewers to remember the slogan every time they watched the news.
The text on the last page reads:
Ever wonder how accurate the networks’ war coverage is? The U.S. military restricts journalist access, pre-approves and abridges footage, and withholds and distorts information.
