Loki, the Norse God of Mischief and Trickery, appears often in Marvel Comic Universe movies.
He loves to announce himself prior to his failed attempts to subdue his enemies. Whenever Loki says “I am Loki… of Asgard,” viewers can expect to hear the second and most meaningful part of Loki’s motto: “And I am burdened with glorious purpose.” Loki really does feel like he’s obligated to become a king — to inflict pain and claim victory over as many people as possible, so he can feel worthy of glory and fulfillment.
I was commissioned by an ardent fan of actor Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the character in the MCU’s show “Loki” to create a “logo” of this slogan, with reference to Loki’s confirmation of his bisexuality in Episode 3 of the show. I tried a number of different type styles with “Glorious Purpose” in the rainbow colors of the Pride flag. The clear winner was version A-4: “BURDENED WITH,” at a small size, in a strong all-caps sans serif typeface, and “glorious purpose,” much bigger, all lowercase in a fanciful, swooping display typeface. I then created versions of the logo for black and white backgrounds in the different colors of the Rainbow, Bisexual, Trans, Nonbinary, Asexual and Pansexual flags.
