I make these wall calendars every year with one big image in the background or twelve themed images in alternating squares.
I note the birthdays of friends and relatives (and cats) with their name on the date plus a bright gold star behind it.
2016, like 2015, featured round things, but these are a lot more random and closer to home.
- January – portrait of David Bowie, who died that month
- February – top of pepper shaker
- March – bottom of cork from a bottle of Angel’s Envy Rye
- April – closeup of the eye of Ice Bat, one of my stuffed animals
- May – Fluffy, a squashy pufferfish that lights up if you toss it around
- June – my copper kettle (dirty) from above
- July – a sparkler for Independence Day
- August – birthday cake for my birthday!
- September – a giant pigeon dwarfing the ferris wheel in London
- October – my late, beloved cat, Isotope, all curled up—her birthday was October 16
- November – a graphic of the residents of Manhattan: while 1,600,000 are people, 1,230,000,000 are ants
- December – end view of an old-school incandescent Christmas light
