This glorious enameled color wheel pin was a gift from my good friends Chris and Mickey. It combines two of my favorite things: colors and type. The outer circle is a 12-section color wheel—doubling the usual number of colors. The inner, moveable circle is black, with cutout arcs. White type follows the arc and gold and white stars are sprinkled in the remaining black. The cutouts in the inner ring are labeled as follows, in all caps.

“COMPLEMENTARY COLORS” show colors directly opposite from each other on the color wheel—yellow and purple, for instance.
“ANALOGOUS COLORS” show four sections next to each other—or in this case, three full sections and two halves: half of yellow-green through green, cyan and blue, to half of blue-purple.
“TRIADIC COLORS” show three colors equidistant from each other around the color wheel—in this case, cyan, magenta and yellow.

The typeface is unexpectedly lyrical: the middle horizontal bar, or tie, in the capital “E,” is unusually low, as is the bottom part of the bowl in the capital “R,” both of which give the words an Art Deco feel. (Lots more type anatomy at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typeface_anatomy.)

For a color geek such as myself, this pin provides endless hours of fascination, much to the entertainment (and amusement) of my friends. The gift is very on brand for me. You can find the pin at https://www.thegraymuse.com/collections/interactive-pins/products/color-wheel-enamel-pin, with white or black enamel on the inner, moveable circle.
