Did you know that Grand Theft Auto and The Price is Right use the same typeface?
Totally awesome. It’s Pricedown Black (see below) from font house Typodermic. I discovered this using WhatTheFont, a great online tool that helps you find out what typeface a particular type sample uses. You upload an image, ascertain which characters it displays, and the WhatTheFont bot gives you its best guesses. Alternatively, “let cloak-draped font enthusiasts lend a hand in the WhatTheFont Forum.” WTF has enlightened me many times.
From Typodermic’s bio on MyFonts:
Typodermic Fonts is run by Ray Larabie, a Canadian font designer who lives in Nagoya, Japan. Ever since he was a child, he was always obsessed with fonts. In the late 1990s, he created hundreds of free font families and released them on his Larabie Fonts website.
In 2001, he went pro and started Typodermic fonts. His wife Chikako works on some of the more technical aspects of font design.
Over 200 font families later, Ray’s library of fonts continues to grow.
About this font family
